Who is this “Ollie Parsley”??

The life of a web dev guru from the UK

Website: FeedMorf

FeedMorf is a very simple site that gives you access to our simple-to-use tools for your feeds, (be it RSS or a podcast etc) to morf them into something else.

The idea came about when a site I was on had some users that wanted to write out HTML version of some RSS feeds. These people has virtually no knowledge of any web programming languages. A basic knowledge was about the limit. So I then came up with the RSS Morf tool.

The next idea came when I wanted to watch a podcast in Window Media Player (I didn’t have iTunes installed). So I set about he Podcast Morf. The RSS Morf translates your feed into HTML, whilst the Podcast Morf translates your podcast into one of a selection of playlists for use in other media players. So I created found the WMV feed for my favourite podcast, Diggnation. I then put it into the newly created Podcast Morf and within 30 seconds I was watching the podcast inside Windows Media Player!

The main forms use alot of ajax to validate feeds and create your code. The ajax allows the infomation about measurements ans feed settings to be validated too without refreshing the page. The rest of the site uses ajax too but with a little static HTML, like this page, as it doesn’t need to interact with the back end systems. This allows a very streamlined and very fast process time and gives you your code as quickly as possible.

Any questions please use the contact form.
