Facebook App: ChannelFlip

I was approached by Wil Harris to do a Facebook app for ChannelFlip. Let me start by explaining a bit about ChannelFlip. The folloing paragraph is taken from their about page:

We make TV shows. For 18-35 year old men. About specific interests. And we distribute them over the internet.

That’s really the short, sharp pitch for ChannelFlip Media. Our programmes are a bit different from regular TV. For starters, our shows are about things you won’t normally find on telly – gadgets, videogames, DVD reviews and more. Each episode is about five minutes – making it easy to digest. And unlike TV, you can take our shows anywhere – watch them on on our website, download them to your computer, even play them on your iPod or iPhone while you commute. You can subscribe to our show feed, and have the latest episodes pushed directly to you with the minimum of effort.

Now the Facebook application was to include some information about ChannelFlip, the shows and also add a video player to the user’s profile. This was all done with PHP, MySQL, JavaScript and the Facebook API. The result is an application that works seamlessly and updates anytime a new episode comes out.
