WordPress Adds A Turbo Using Google Gears

[digg=http://digg.com/tech_news/WordPress_Adds_A_Turbo_Using_Google_Gears]Today I logged into my WordPress.com blog and notice a new option at the top right of the screen called “turbo”. Obviously I had a look at it being the curious person I am! It then showed a popup explaining that you can install Google Gears and configure wordpress so that it stores all the JavaScript files and similar files needed on your local machine. Thus speeding up wordpress!

I am actually using it while writing this post and it does seem a bit faster. I do think i need some more extensive testing before giving a full evaluation.

Let me know what you think of it. You do need a WordPress.com blog and need to install Google Gears. Don’t worry it is all done with 2 mouse clicks. One to install Gears and one to download the JavaScript files from WordPress. There were 197 files altogether!

Anyway let me know what you think. I think it is a great way to speed up WordPress, although to be honest I didn’t really feel that it was slow in the first place.
